Jalapeno Pickles January 4 2011, 9:58pm via j-sekka.com

Chili’s, not something you really see in Japan ..  certainly not the hot type.  We order some red chili’s which we use on the Mozzarella salad at Sekka Dining and they come in at a whopping 8,000yen per kg (nearly US$100 per kg!!).

So refreshing that you can now get some genuine jalapeño chili’s grown at Niseko Green Farm during the Summer & Autumn months.  Never fear, if you aren’t lucky enough to be here during that time you can still pick up jars of Dennis the Dutchman’s Jalapeño Pickles at Sekka Deli.  The Jalapeño chili’s are simply sliced and pickled in a vinegar / water / salt mixture allowing the true flavor, & mild heat, of the chili to shine.  A medium sized jar will set you back only ¥850 and a great added to pizzas, with any home-made tex mex, tossed through salads or to spice up your favorite sandwich.
